as I explored the area near the Pirate Tower, gathering reference shots for my commissioned art piece, an osprey suddenly plunged into the ocean waves like a falling stone. moments later, it emerged, a fish clutched tightly in its talons.

in the southern part of the scenic town of Laguna Beach in Orange County, California, hidden among the rugged cliffs of countless coves, stands a unique landmark known to locals as the Pirate Tower.

the Pirate Tower is one of my favorite hidden gems in Southern California, so it was a great pleasure to have an art collector commission it for a piece in my signature vector hyperrealism style.

watching a bird of prey strike was a wild, raw moment — especially as I was searching for inspiration in such a fascinating place. it felt only right to immortalize that sea hawk in my art.
